Recent Academic Experience

Currently writing a PhD: Liverpool Stadium: Investigating a Hidden Chapter of Liverpool’s Musical Past.
From January 2008 onwards: Associate lecturer at Liverpool Hope University, Department of Music..
2004- 2007: Part time Lecturer in Art History at Runshaw College and St.Helens College. Guest Lecturer in Art History at Wigan and Leigh College.
2000-2004: Part time Lecturer and Module Leader in Art History at Liverpool John Moores University.
Responsible for Student Welfare on two, undergraduate field trips to New York.
Coordinatinator of Art exhibition and related workshops at St. Hilda’s School, Liverpool.
Organisor, Fund Raiser and Publicist for an exhibition of contemporary paintings at Static Gallery, Roscoe Lane, Liverpool.
1997-2000: Student Representative for three consecutive years whilst undergraduate at LJMU.
Team Leader of student volunteers during Liverpool based ISEA conference (International Symposium of Electronic Arts) and also during Liverpool Biennial.
Voluntary helper during LJMU Open Day:

Qualifications


2006: Awarded M.Phil. by Liverpool John Moores University. Hard Wired for Heroes: A Study of Punk Fanzines, Fandom, and the Historical Antecedents of the Punk Movement
2000: Awarded BA (Hons.) 1st class, in Art History

Performing History


2002-2009: Semi-professional bassist and vocalist touring UK. Significant events: Hookrock Blues Festival, Belgium. Recorded blues CD with the Hexmen. Support spots with The Stumble, Danny Bryant’s Red-Eye band, the Little Flames, Spencer Davies, the Animals.
1982- 1997: Professional bassist and vocalist. Touring nationally and internationally as freelance bass player. Significant events: performing at TT and Grand Prix weeks, Isle of Man.
Crich: Rock and Blues Festival.
Somerset: summer season, with strict-tempo dance band, sight-reading and backing shows.
U.K. theatres tours with travelling shows.
British Club and night-club Circuits.
British Country Music Circuits, including major Festivals: the Peterborough Country Music Festival, (broadcast on BBC radio 2), the Medway Festival and the GLC Festival, on the Thames bank. TV appearances on BBC 1 Pebble Mill, and Channel 4. British Irish Music Circuits, London and Midlands.
Europe and elsewhere: Greece: Zoom Club residency, Thessaloniki, including radio appearances.
Norway: extensive tours and hotel residency.
Germany: many tours of British Army bases and US Army bases. Sicily: USAF bases, appearing at ‘Orange Fest’ with touring show.
Spain, Costa del Sol: summer season at Mel’s Bar and Mel’s Beach Bar, Puerto Banus (filmed for Belgium TV).
Canary Islands, Lanzarote, Costa Teguise: summer season at night club complex.
Portugal, the Azores: USAF base residency, (filmed for US TV).
Med Cruises: strict-tempo, sight-reading and backing shows. Bahrain: hotel night-club residencies.
Abu Dhabi: hotel night-club residency.
Indonesia: tour of night-clubs of Java and Sumatra.
Acts worked with include: the Hexmen, the Tomcatz, Belladonna, Girltalk, Sweet Caress, the Angels, Mel Williams, Made in Japan, Joosi Froot, Indigo Lady and others. Supported and toured with: Guns and Oatcakes, Hawkwind, Grumbleweeds, Bernard Manning, Roy Walker, the Stiffs, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes, Kenny Lynch, Freddy and the Dreamers, the Swinging Blue Jeans, the Fortunes, Marmalade, Raymond Froggat, Rattlesnake Annie, Flanagan and Allen, Ged Ford, Showaddywaddy, Baron Knights, and many more.

1976-1981: semi-professional bassist and guitarist on rock and alternative circuits. Performed at RAR Rallies; major London venues. Studio work and radio appearances.
